RESTAURANTS

Tarifa has lots to offer in terms of food - There's an abundance of traditional local tapas restaurants and with Tarifa sitting on a tuna fishing port, you can find the fish on most menus.

EL FRANCES

A lovely traditional tapas restaurant in Tarifa old town. It can get quite busy in the evenings and you can't reserve, so we recommend going at lunchtime if you don't want to wait.

LOS MELLI

This has been Tom's favourite tapas restaurant since he first came to Tarifa 20 years ago – The tuna tataki is a must! The restaurant was started by two twin brothers - One of them now runs El Otro Melli (aka the other Melli), and both are great.  Like most places they don’t take reservations so just put your name down with the waiter and they will let you know when you’re next.

MAMA LLENA

Located in our favorite little square this one is also a must if you like steak. All the steaks are served on a hot marble platter to the table so you can cook it to your liking.

EL LOLA

Typical Andalusian tapas bar - No reservations so expect a queue (all of these places are busiest between 9-11pm FYI)

SILOS 19

Unlike your traditional tapas this offers a more restaurant experience - Really nice menu with a mix of sea food and meat.

BAR ANCA CURRO

One of our favorite tapas bars. It’s very traditional Spanish tapas and the perfect spot for a quick snack / drink before dinner. The owner is very loud and friendly but it’s tiny so better for very small groups.
